Psychological First Aid is an acute intervention for trauma and disaster survivors that aims to reduce risk for long-term mental health problems while promoting resilience and recovery. This ECHO series provides an overview of mental health challenges faced by disaster survivors as well as an introduction to the basic concepts of PsychologicalFirst Aid.
Session 1 discucsses trauma, risk factors, what is PFA, who can deliver PFA, where PFA can be delivered. Also focus on PFA core actions of contact and engagment.
Session 2 focuses on core actions Safety & Comfort as well as Stabilaztion. Acute grief reactions and grounding exercises are also discussed.
Session 3 focuses on core actions Information Gathering, Practical Assistance, and Connection with Social Supports.
Session 4 focuses on core actions Information on Coping and Linkages with Collaborative Services.
